Prepared Plays

1. HUSH!

“HUSH!” takes the audience into the world of people dealing with choices and challenges about their sexuality and lets us experience, through theatre, the conflicts people confront within their everdya lives.  “HUSH!”  synthesizes experiences of many people, translating their thoughs and feelings into a multi-layered theatre experience.  The show’s intense (and sometimes humourous) content is delivered in fast paced vignettes designed to challenge audience members to devise solutions to the problems the characters in the play struggle with.

2.  Streetwise

“Streetwise” is the story of a young woman traumatized by her experiences in the sex trade.  How did a bright girl like her get into something like that?  What were the steps that led her down that path, and how is she going to get back out?

3. Faded Reason

Everyone drinks, and almost everyone smokes pot.  It’s reality.  Hey, its’ not like they are hard drugs.  Booze is what you do if you want a good time, and eveyrone knows that pot is not addictive.  “Faded Reason” is a play about drugs and alcohol, and how the affect everyone.

4.  Some Girls

Imagine a world, your world, revolving around avoiding a relative.  Not just checking the hallway before yo leave your room, but turning around on the street when you see his car in the driveway.  What can you do?  Tell someone?  They’d think you seduced him.- they wouldn’t believe you.  You’re just a kid, and he’s a grown up.  They wouldn’t believe you.  Would they?

5. Sergei

You’re a 16  year old refugee.  You’ve lived through the horrors of a war torn country, but now you are in Canada.  Now you’re going to high school.  Now you’re safe, right?  School isn’t so black and white – or is it?  “Sergei” is the story of a young man struggling to fit into a world where differences shouldn’t matter.

6.  Foreign Correspondence

Ever been too scared to go home, but known that things would be worse for you if you didn’t?  Ever try to cover bruises, and make up stories to nurses? “Foreign Correspondence” shows life through the eyes of a young man who has nowhere to run.

7. Jib

Why would anyone do coke?  Coke lasts 15 minutes, Meth lasts 10 hours.  “jib” is the story of a couple struggling with the decisions about drug use and their tightrope relationship.  How far is too far, or more importantly, how far you go for a hit?

8.  Chug

“What on earth did I do last night?”  Ever feel ashamed of something you did when you were drinking?  Ever had a drink first thing in the morning to steady your nerves?  Have people ever annoyed you by criticizing your drinking?  “Chug” is the story of a group of friends making choices related to alcohol.

9.  Amber’s Call

Alcohol, roofies, GHB.  Ever heard of them?  Probably not.  Ever wonder why?  Because the girls involved don’t talk about them.  These girls can’t protest, can’t say “no!”, they can’t even talk they are so doped up.  Maybe she asked for it, maybe she shouldn’t have worn that shirt – maybe she just wasn’t aware it could happen to her.
“Amber’s Call” , a hard hitting play of one girl’s story about drug rape.

10.  Who Do You Love?

Ever loved someone so much it made you cry?  What if that person was the same sex as you?  Does it matter?

11.  Shadow Of A Scream

This play is about the memories that can haunt us, and colour our interaction with others.  A girl’s sexual abuse, by her mother’s previous boyfriend, causes turmoil in her present day relationships.  “Shadow Of A Scream” explores family secrets and family dynamics.
